Heyes Lane Junior School

FHLJS

Welcome to the FHLJS Page!

The Friends of Heyes Lane Junior School, The Friends as we are known, is a friendly committee of parents and teachers who meet every 6-8 weeks in the evening, depending upon activities, in the school staff room. Every family at Heyes Lane Junior School is automatically a member of The Friends.

The aim of The friends is to foster good, open relations and communications within the school community; between parents and professionals, and among parents. We organise a variety of fun social and fundraising events throughout the year. Our aim is to raise money for the school to pay for some of the vital extras which benefit our pupils, enrich the curriculum, and improve the school environment. Examples of purchases are books, I.T. Equipment (hardware and software), playground equipment, etc.

Expenditure decisions are made at PTA meetings with particular reference to the school’s development priorities. Any member can contribute suggestions relating to expenditure for consideration by the meeting.

Our school relies upon the goodwill and efforts of pupils, parents, family and friends to raise money for school funds.

It’s The Friends job to organise and manage these fund raising events, both big and small.

But it’s not all hard work. We have a good laugh doing the organising, we raise money, and everybody ends up having a great time.

The Friends are always on the lookout for new committee members, or even parents that are willing to add their names to a helper’s rota. We would very much welcome parents joining us. – Ours is a relaxed and very informal group.
